What is self-leveling compound used for?
It smooths and levels a subfloor before flooring installation — filling dips and low spots so the vinyl sheet has a perfectly flat base to glue onto. It is the standard preparation step for glue-down homogeneous sheet.
Is self-leveling compound the same as primer?
No. Primer seals and consolidates the subfloor surface; self-leveling compound builds the flat level plane. They are different products and both are used in sequence — primer first, then self-leveling where the slab is uneven.
When do I need self-leveling compound?
Whenever the subfloor exceeds about 2 mm deviation under a 2 m straight edge, or shows patches, hollows or damaged areas. Spec it in the same order as the flooring to avoid a site stop.
How thick can I pour it?
Standard application is 2–5 mm. Deeper fills need aggregate-extended mix or multiple pours — follow the product datasheet for the maximum single pour depth.
